Greenhouse at the
spa hotel Kranzbach
The Kranzbach Castle lies at the foot of Germany’s highest mountain Zugspitze and is a refuge for the mind and soul. Built a hundred years ago by Lady Mary Portman, a wealthy English aristocrat, it is homage to the country houses in natural stone of her motherland. The English country house now acts as a centrepiece in the green alp landscape surrounding the Das Kranzbach spa hotel complex.
Inside the British designer Ilse Crawford has transformed the interiors of the Arts and Craft country house using her signature mix of unexpected colour combinations and daring furniture mash-up. Now the surrounding nature has been given a chance to move into the hotels restaurant. A couple of Greenhouses now resides here. Designed by Thai duo Atelier 2+ Greenhouse is a result of their stay in Sweden, brought forward by a need to get closer to nature.
