Glass scholarship for
Beckmans College of Design

OCTOBER 18, 2011
October 14, Design House Stockholm handed out our first Glass Scholarship in collaboration with Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm. The scholarship is open for students in the third year of the Product and Interior Design program. The winning scholar gets to spend one day in Design House Stockholm's glassworks Vet Hut in Boda, Småland, and work on a personal project together with Master glassblower Christopher Ramsey.

Each student was given the assignment to design a container for a personal object associated with a precious memory. The container should have emotional and artistic qualities rather than merely practical ones.

The scholarship 2011 was given to Erika Gunnerblad. Erika has designed a memory capsule with an optical lens as a lid. The jury (designer Nina Jobs, and Pia Karlsson and Anders Färdig from Design House Stockholm) appreciated the high artistic level of the project, and that it also make use of the qualities of both the material and the craft itself.

All student works will be exhibited at Design House Stockholm's new flagship store at Norrmalmstorg in Stockholm later this winter.
