Birds 1967 designed by Lisa Larson, one of Sweden’s most cherished and iconic designers and loved by collectors worldwide! Featured at MoMA Design Store in both New York and Tokyo.
The story begins in Sausalito, California, where a young Lisa Larson spent six formative months in 1967. Studying under renowned ceramicist Peter Voulkos at UC Berkeley, she found herself swept up in the energy of the Flower Power movement and the expressive beauty of Mexican folk art. In this creatively charged atmosphere, Larson began painting birds — playful and spontaneous, with no thought of production, just pure inspiration.
"I was craving to work, and to paint these wood shapes were just natural since I had no possibility to work with ceramics in our house back then." says Lisa Larson. "I had no idea on how they could be reconstructed or produced once back in Sweden, but I was so inspired by all that I saw."
