Dropping Now — SDW2025

At Design House Stockholm, creativity is never static — it’s a continuous flow of ideas, innovation, and unexpected moments of brilliance. During Stockholm Design Week, we unveiled Dropping Now, an exhibition curated by Ray Atelier, showcasing our latest launches for 2025.

But Dropping Now is more than an exhibition—it’s a dynamic exploration of how design emerges. Just like a stone dropping into water, creativity ripples outward, breaking new ground in its wake. It’s about capturing those fleeting moments when ideas collide and something truly original takes form.

One of these moments came to life through movement. Lisa Larson’s Yoga sculptures—her final and most personal works together with Design House Stockholm—were transformed into a dance performance. Specially invited dancer DavioD interpreted the transitions between Larson’s four sculpted positions, translating their stillness into motion. Adding to the visual dialogue, Tato Lakso’s Olivia chair became a second dance partner, its strong graphic form weaving seamlessly into the choreography.

Through dance, design, and collaboration, Dropping Now was a celebration of creativity in its rawest form—unexpected, evolving, and always in motion.

Fireplace Lamp merges function with sculpture, evoking the warmth of a flickering hearth. A mouth-blown glass piece hovers above a log-like base, while a dimmable LED creates a dynamic glow. "Light existed long before humans; it’s in our DNA," says Jun Takeda, CEO of HYBE DESIGN TEAM. Rooted in tradition yet forward-thinking, Fireplace Lamp is designed to inspire both mind and soul.

Pedestal Table by Matti Klenell blends classic design with modern versatility, featuring an adjustable height from 25 to 55 cm using five geometric spacers. With eco-conscious production and now available in vibrant red and blue, it serves as a side table, podium, or display stand, adaptable to any space.

Olivia Chair balances lightness, sturdiness, and comfort with its sleek molded plywood design. Created by Tatu Laakso during his master’s studies at Aalto University, its precise graphic form invites effortless seating. The concave backrest supports the muscles, not the spine, ensuring long-lasting comfort inviting a relaxed yet ergonomic posture.

Level Rug — One rug or two? Lena Bergström masters the art of illusion with Level, a hand-tufted rug that plays with light and texture. Level offers a three-dimensional appearance and an inviting softness that goes beyond visual appeal. "Level is a close-up of a mat placed on a mat, and yet it’s an illusion," says Bergström, introducing it as a cousin to her Basket Rug.

Aria Table creates a floating illusion with its circular top and tapered legs, balancing elegance and stability. Now available in two new heights, it offers even more versatility with a nested design. Crafted from solid oak with lacquered iron plates, its refined finish enhances the natural wood grain.

Mellow Clock by Joe Parr is a sculptural timepiece that blends kinetic art with Scandinavian Slow Living. With no clock face or numbers, it invites a more mindful relationship with time through its silent, swinging pendulum. Inspired by Bauhaus and kinetic art, it transforms time into an emotional and existential experience.

Step Stepladder — a Design House Stockholm classic is now presented in dark and light oak! Karl Malmvall's Step ladder combines functionality and design, meant to be displayed as a decorative piece on a wall. It includes a hook for easy access whenever you may need it!
